What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, commonly refferd to as CBD, is one of the main phytocannabinoids produced by the hemp plant. It is a non-psychoactive, oily/resinous compound that is naturally found in specialized glands on young leaves, stalks and in the flowering buds of the hemp plant.

Does CBD make me "high"?

NO, as CBD does not bind well to CB1 receptors found in our brain and central nervous system receptors the way THC does, it does not induce the release of serotonin and dopamine (feelings of euphoria). Instear, CBD binds more readily to CB2 receptors found in our immune cells, promoting more antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefit to the immune system.

How much CBD should I take? (Proper mg dosages)

THe average adult can benefit from anywhere between 20-40 mgs of CBD per day. However, this varies depending on specific conditions and ailments. For instance, someone suffering from MS may take smaller doses more frequently throughout the day, whereas many people can benefit from single doses.

How is hemp different than marijuana?

Unlike marijuana hemp contains extremely low (less than 0.3%) THC. THC is the compound in marijuana that is psychoactive. The cannabinoid profile of the hemp is ideal for people looking for benefits from cannabis without the 'high'. Hemp is used for making herbal supplements, food, fiber, rope, paper, bricks, oil, natural plastic, and so much more.

Can You Overdose On CBD?

It’s also important to note that it’s nearly impossible to overdose on CBD if you use it sensibly. The only repercussion one CBD user felt when he took a high dose was a sense of drowsiness. However, the tendency to want to sleep may not even be considered negative if you have insomnia.

How Does CBD Work in the Body?

CBD works in the body by activating receptors and neurotransmitters through a complex network of endogenous cannabinoids called the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Unlike THC, which primarily binds to CB-1 receptors located in the brain, CBD works in the body by manipulating receptors throughout organ tissues, the immune system, the pain response system, the hormonal system, and other whole-body regulatory systems. Since its receptors have been found to exist in virtually every cell and tissue type in the body, CBD is believed to work on every aspect of human health and behavior – from the subcellular level to the whole-body level and beyond.

Also, since it affects different receptors than THC (i.e., receptors that are located outside the brain), CBD does NOT produce any mind-altering effects. In other words, you do not have to worry about getting high when you take CBD oil.

CBD is therapeutic in nature and will work to manipulate bodily systems at the cellular level to return afflicted organ systems, tissue systems, and even chemical systems in the central nervous system back to a state of health and homeostasis. This is precisely why it has been capable of treating conditions such as depression and anxiety, to chronic physical ailments such as pain, inflammation, arthritis, and more.
